Why Nicaragua

Close to the US. Easy to reach. Cheaper to live in.

Nicaragua is a 2–3 hour flight from Miami and Houston. Nationals of the US, Canada, and most EU states do not need a tourist visa for stays under 90 days[visa]. Spanish is the national language; English is widely spoken in private healthcare settings.

1
Currency stability
NIO córdoba has a predictable crawling-peg to USD set by the Central Bank of Nicaragua[BCN]. USD is accepted in most private clinics.
2
Recovery-friendly geography
Dry Pacific climate, short drives between hospital and recovery hotels, quiet colonial towns (Granada, San Juan del Sur) for leisure extensions.
3
Private healthcare capacity
Managua hosts a mature private healthcare sector including general hospitals and specialty clinics. We coordinate with vetted providers for each procedure.

Common questions

Answers before you ask

The same seven questions come up on nearly every first call. Here they are.

Do I need a visa to travel to Nicaragua?
Nationals of the US, Canada, the UK, and most EU states do not require a visa for stays of up to 90 days[visa]. A tourist card is issued on arrival. Confirm current requirements with your country's consular service before booking travel.
What language will my surgeon and coordinator speak?
Your NicaRenova coordinator communicates in English, Spanish, or French. Your treating surgeon communicates in English and Spanish in private healthcare settings. A dedicated translator is included for the consultation and pre-op briefing.
How do I know your prices are real?
Every package lists the specific surgeon fee, anesthesia, facility time, hospital nights, hotel nights, and coordination in the written quote. Nothing is "starting from" — the quote is fixed after the virtual consult unless your medical situation materially changes. US reference figures on our site come from independent third parties[ref], not our estimates.
What happens if something goes wrong?
We include a 24/7 coordinator escalation line during your stay and for 30 days after return. Optional complication coverage and medical evacuation memberships are available as add-ons — we will show you pricing from independent providers rather than bundling something you may not need.
Is it safe to travel to Nicaragua for care?
Travel conditions change over time. Before you commit, we ask every patient to review their country's official travel advisory (the US Department of State[DoS], Canada's Travel Advice[CA], or the UK FCDO[FCDO]). Our recommended hospital network and hotel selection are chosen to reduce travel friction and keep patients in low-incident neighborhoods of Managua.
Can my partner or family member travel with me?
Yes, every package supports a companion. Double-occupancy hotel rooms are available at a modest upcharge. Companions do not pay a facilitation fee.
How do I pay?
A deposit secures your dates and is paid to our US billing entity via card or bank transfer. The balance is paid before surgery. You do not transfer money directly to hospitals, hotels, or drivers in Nicaragua.
